Best Events at Lake Norman This Fall & Winter 2026

As the temperatures drop and the boat traffic thins out, Lake Norman doesn't slow down, it just moves the party on land. From festivals to boat parades, here's what's on the calendar around the lake this fall and winter.

1. Laketoberfest - Cornelius

Now in its second decade, this free community favorite takes over Bailey Road Park with local beer, food trucks, live music, and a KidsZone for the whole family. A portion of proceeds benefits Lake Norman Wildlife Conservationists, so it's a good time that also gives back.

Good for: Families, craft beer fans, a low-key Saturday out

Insider tip: It's free admission and free parking, but it's popular, so arrive early for the best spot near the music.

2. Tawba Walk Arts & Music Festival (Fall Edition) - Cornelius

Housed in a remodeled multi-story home right on a Lake Norman cove, this family-friendly brewery feels more like a lake house than a typical taproom. Locals show up for Trivia Wednesdays and Music Bingo Thursdays, and in warmer months the on-site Paddle Club launches kayaks and paddleboards right out back, open to the public every Tuesday evening.

Good for: Family-friendly hangs, trivia nights, paddle sports

Insider tip: Join the Paddle Club on a Tuesday evening in summer, it's free and open to anyone, not just members.

3. Carolina Renaissance Festival - Huntersville

Running weekends into late fall, this is one of the region's biggest seasonal draws, jousting, artisans, live entertainment, and a full medieval marketplace just outside Huntersville. It's a full-day outing, so plan accordingly.

Good for: Families, a full-day outing, something different from the usual lake activities .

Insider tip: Weekday-adjacent early entry (right at opening) means shorter lines for the jousting arena.

4. Lake Norman Chamber Fall Classic Golf Tournament - Mooresville

Set for October 27, 2026 at Mooresville Golf Club, this is the Lake Norman Chamber's signature fall networking event, part friendly competition, part community connection for local business owners and professionals.

Good for: Local business owners, networking, golf enthusiasts.Insider tip: Spots (and sponsorships) fill up, register through the Lake Norman Chamber's site well ahead of October.

5. Lake Norman Lighted Christmas Boat Parade - Lake-wide

A true only-in-a-lake-town tradition. Decorated boats cruise a set route across the lake, with public viewing stops typically including Blythe Landing, Ramsey Creek Park, Peninsula Yacht Club, and the Duke Energy Explorium. The 2026 date hadn't been confirmed at the time of writing, but it's historically held in mid-to-late December, worth watching for as the season approaches.

Good for: Families, a free festive night out, waterfront restaurant date night with a view Insider tip: Grab a table at a waterfront restaurant along the route for the best seat in the house — no standing in the cold required.
